Secondary Teacher to instruct Math and Science for 7th and 8th grade.
Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university in Science and Mathematics with Special Education endorsement
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned or TPP Program through Region XX or other state approved program
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of subject(s) assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Gifted and Talented Certified (if appropriate)
TBSI trained
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with administration in any assigned capacity
Model good moral standards

 

Experience:
At least one year of student teaching or approved internship

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies

1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
4. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
5. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
6. Prepare students for state mandated test and administer as given.
7. Work cooperatively with administration to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
8. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
9. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s)
10. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
11. Keep informed of and comply with state, district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
12. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
13. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Student Growth and Development

1. Instill a sense of pride in their students' ethnicity.
2. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
3. Raise the students' self-esteem.
4. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
5. Teach patriotism, good citizenship, sportsmanship, and fair play.
6. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
7. Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school.
8. Work with PEIMS and administration to ensure attendance guidelines are followed.

Classroom Management and Organization

1. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
2. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
4. Maintain a safe environment.

 

 

TTIPS Grant Mathematics Specialist

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification/Skills:
Master's degree in education or a related field
Mathematics specialist certification preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned or TPP Program through Region XX or other state approved program
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Knowledge of subject(s) assigned
Specific knowledge of curriculum and instruction in Math
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Experience:
At least 3 years of student teaching


Responsibilities and Duties (not limited to): 

1. Work collaboratively with the Math teacher to implement a quality math program that is researched based with a focus on differentiating reading instructions.
2. Analyze school mathematics data and plan for future school-wide needs.
3. Promote teacher's delivery and understanding of the school curriculum through collaborative long-range and short-range planning and teacher coaching.
4. Implement intensive strategies in Mathematical areas to improve student achievement and increase teacher quality/leadership effectiveness.
5. Interpret the abilities and disabilities of students and work cooperatively with classroom teacher who have these particular students in class.
6. Increase or improve the mathematical capabilities of a student.
7. Collect and facilitate the review and use of school math data to guide instruction and plan for student needs.
8. Demonstrate ideal mathematical lessons to teachers in workshop settings and during professional development.
9. Evaluate assessment tests to determine students' mathematical levels.
10. Develop and implement individual mathematical plans for students.
11. Analyze data and performing research on math.
 

 

Substitute Teachers

Salary:

$85 per day

Experience:

Previous experience working with at-risk and secondary students preferred, but not required
